COVID 19 (CORONAVIRUS) - Changes to our Services

The Food Bank will continue to provide a service to those in need, however food parcel collections will be by appointment only – anyone wanting to refer or self-refer should phone 01283 219761 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to arrange a pick up. We are also encouraging services who refer to the Food Bank to hold and give out food parcels directly if they are able.

South Derbyshire CVS Food Projects

This year we will provide around 1,000 emergency food parcels to individuals and families in need in South Derbyshire. We’re appealing for financial donations to help feed those people who are struggling. They can be struggling for all kinds of reasons - ill-health, job loss, bereavement, homelessness or other changes in personal circumstances. Big or small, a gift from you will help us make sure no-one in South Derbyshire goes hungry.

  • £5 provides an emergency parcel for a child for 1 day
  • £20 feeds a family for 3 days
  • £50 feeds a family for a week

Increase your donation without spending a penny extra! Download a Gift Aid form HERE.

Information on other ways to donate can be found HERE.

Food Bank

The service provides free emergency food parcels to families and individuals in the South Derbyshire area. We also have a fridge and freezer so are also able to support service users with fresh food donated by local businesses.

Anyone who is in need of emergency food can access the service. On the first occasion that you need a parcel, you can refer yourself to the service. For each food parcel after that, you will need to provide a referral form to the CVS before you will be given a parcel.

Agencies that provide referral letters include South Derbyshire District Council, Social Care, Housing.

When is it open?  Monday to Thursday 10am - 4pm and Fridays 10am  3.30pm.

Public Community Fridge

The public fridge is available to any member of the public who wishes to access good quality unwanted food. You may also find dented tins or food that is past it’s best before date but available under disclaimer.
