A message from Kerrie Fletcher - CEO - Changes at South Derbyshire CVS

4 September 2020

Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come? (Rumi)

We have all been through so many huge, scary changes since the Spring, and however we try to imagine the 'new normal' it's not yet quite clear what that will be, or what the future will look like for our services, volunteers and staff.

Meanwhile, the year is turning to Autumn, and the weather is changing – and there are more changes here at CVS too.

As you know, Senior Manager Pam Wood finally retired at the end of July. Last month we also said farewell to Donna Treadwell our Core Services Manager, who has now started a new post with Derbyshire Mind – congratulations and best wishes to her in her new role.

And, my time as CEO is also coming to an end. On 1 October I start a new post with Community Action Derby as Interim Deputy CEO – Strategic Partnerships. South Derbyshire CVS has always had a strong working relationship with Community Action – our nearest CVS neighbour – so I know that their values and priorities are closely aligned to my own. I look forward to continuing that relationship from the 'other side', and I know I will continue to see and work with many of you in my new role.

My last day in post will be Friday 18 September, and Roger Moors will be taking over from me when I leave. As many of you will know, Roger has been our MD since May 2019. He will update you on his role and future plans in due course.

It's been an absolute privilege to lead such a committed and caring team of staff and volunteers, who bring so much heart, soul and passion to their work and to the people they support – particularly through these last few challenging and amazing months. I'm proud of all that we've done, as an organisation, a sector and a community.

For now – it's been lovely working in South Derbyshire these last 9 years, and I wish all of you the very, very best for the future – whatever that becomes.
